The Plague - Yersenia Pestis

Spinning off the mainstream news headlines of October 6. 2026, regarding the Yersinia pestis bacteria or 'the Plague’, let’s take it as inspiration to glance into historical Homeopathy.

Regardless of what one thinks about the news headlines, we can use it to explore historical (and contemporary) homeopathic approaches and its' scope to address disease based on individualized symptom expression.

It must be noted - Yersinia pestis and species within the genus of Yersinia are endemic to certain geographic regions. And - its actual risk of transmission is something to look in to.

What causes its activation and risk factors are surely complex.

Evolving environmental factors must be considered.

We know the implementation of sewer systems separating fecal matter from drinking water and basic hygiene upgrades historically have been the MOST effective form of disease prevention, alongside the upgrade of one’s own body-mind terrain, biome and immune system.

NBC News Report, October 6, 2026

“The death of a 28-year-old woman who worked in an anti-plague laboratory in Russia is raising concerns about what caused her illness."

"The woman died Friday, according to the World Health Organization, with no cause of death confirmed. A Russian official said the woman died of pneumonia of “undetermined” origin."

“While the circumstances of this reported case remain unconfirmed, plague is a serious bacterial disease[ ]"

Homeopathy

Homeopathic treatment matches the remedy (homeopathic medicine), to the persons nuanced symptom details throughout the various phases of an acute disease process. An acute disease has a common grouping of symptoms but within each person there will be a nuance, or variation in each symptom expression.

Common symptom expressions associated with Yersinia pestis may include hemorrhagic bleeding, buboes of swollen lymph nodes, sepsis, or pneumonic infection of the lungs.

In a pneumonic plague we can consider the remedies Arsenicum album, Hepar sulph, and Phosphorus, for their great influence on the lungs.

For the sepsis and buboes we can consider remedies like Anthracinum, Hyoscyamus, Pyrogenium, and Baptisia.

For hemorrhagic symptoms we can consider Crotalus horridus, Lachesis, Phosphorus, or Vipera.

While Bufo, Lachesis, Naja, or Tarantula hispanica, can be considered in epileptic cases.

Pestinum can be considered for a homeoprophylactic approach.

Case Example

Here is a historical case report of homeopathic treatment based on individualized symptoms.

"April last, 1903, [ ] a young man, thin and spare in form, a clerk in Government employ, came back from his office in the evening and complained of slight headache, feverishness, general languor, a sore feeling all over, thirst [ ] ..."

"The next day a doctor was called in [ ]."

"On the day following, I was sent for and on my approach I saw the patient in a semi-unconscious condition, eyes suffused and bloodshot, delirious but could partially recognize me, slow of comprehension, and answered questions with an erratic mind and disposition. I noticed petechial eruptions all over his chest and the inside of the arms, and ecchymoses patches on back and shoulders, which were very painful, with an enlarged and a very painful, swollen axillary gland on the right side. The temperature was 103.4 F, skin hot, pungent and dry, face puffed, of dusky color, tongue dry, red and cracked. The appearance of the eruptions and bloodstained marks were so sudden and peculiarly symmetrical and prominent that speculations were rife among friends as to what might have been the probable cause."

"Without hesitating, I at once prescribed Crotalus horridus, to be given at an interval of at least every 4 hours. [ ]."

"Next morning I was surprised to notice improvements in every respect and ordered the same medicine to be continued as before, and in the course of another couple of days, the patient became convalescent."

"In fact all, all those symptoms that threatened an impending dissolution, gradually disappeared under the influence of this single remedy, though he required some other medicines for the subsequent treatment of minor complaints, which lurked about him for nearly a week, such as Nux vomica and Sulphur."

"This recount of the progression of the disease and the need for continued repetition of the remedy at this frequency is a model case [ ] for the treatment of future cases."

"Despite the severity of the condition and potential for death, the homeopathic remedy was able to turn the condition around in a few days and with the use of other anti-psoric remedies, the patient was able to return to full health."

Approaches

Homeopathic treatment has a history of effective use in infectious outbreaks. Approaches include:

Constitutional treatment - build immunity through individualized constitutional, and miasmatic treatment.

Acute treatment - apply homeopathic treatment during acute disease processes based on the individuals symptom details.

Homeoprophylaxis (HPx) - apply HPx sequential dosing methods to prepare the immune system before and during outbreaks (same theory as vaccination, different methodology).

Genus Epidemicus - apply the top indicated collective remedy to the community and individuals when it is a clear, during any epidemic outbreaks.
